Clarity + Follow-Through: How EOS Helps You Stop Spinning and Start Building
Let’s talk about goals. Not the “vision board and manifest” kind—though hey, if that works for you, live your life—but the real kind that actually get done. If you’ve ever set a goal for your group practice, only to watch it quietly die in a Google Doc, you’re not alone. Most of us aren’t struggling with setting goals—we’re struggling with follow-through. That’s where EOS comes in.
Why Shit Falls Apart (And It’s Not Just You)
If your practice is constantly “working on” stuff but never actually finishing it, there’s usually a pattern. The goals are vague. The team doesn’t care (or even remember them). No one’s checking in. And your “system” is really just a bunch of ideas floating in your brain or Slack. It’s chaos disguised as productivity. EOS—short for Entrepreneurial Operating System—is what cuts through the fog.
Vision + Traction = Actual Progress
Here’s the TL;DR of the two most critical pieces of EOS:
Vision is about where you’re going. It’s the big picture, sure—but also the nitty-gritty clarity you need to make decisions without second-guessing yourself every damn time. It includes things like:
– Your core values (you already have them, even if they’re not written down)
– Your core focus (why you exist and what you do)
– A long-term target (10 years is the norm, but pick what fits)
– A solid marketing strategy
– A 3-year picture, a 1-year plan, quarterly goals (“rocks”), and a running list of issues
Traction is where the rubber meets the road. It's where you stop chasing shiny ideas and start actually getting shit done. This part is all about: – Setting no more than 3 major goals per person each quarter
– Assigning clear ownership (one person, one rock—no finger-pointing)
– Checking in weekly (yes, weekly) to stay on track
– Actually solving issues instead of pretending they’ll go away on their own
Feeling Overwhelmed? Cool. Start Anyway.
You don’t have to overhaul your whole practice in one week. Start small: – Pick one or two rocks (goals) to tackle in the next 90 days
– Block out 15 minutes each week to check in with yourself (or your team)
– If you’ve got a leadership team, loop them in—this isn’t a solo sport
Even a tiny bit of structure can make you feel 10 pounds lighter. It shifts the mental load off your shoulders and gives your team a shared direction instead of just vibes.
Wanna Go Deeper Without Drowning?
Cool. I’ve got two resources that can help:
👉 Join the free EOS Collective for Group Practices
It’s a Facebook group full of folks who are in the weeds with EOS—asking questions, solving problems, and getting nerdy about structure. Come hang out: facebook.com/groups/eoscollective
👉 Hop on the waitlist for the EOS Mastermind
It’s a 6-month program where we actually integrate EOS into your practice. No fluff, no overwhelm. Just focused support, biweekly meetings, working sessions, feedback, and clarity. Sign up here: www.taravossenkemper.com → Work With Me → EOS Mastermind
Final Word?
Vision without traction is just a very expensive daydream. Get clear, get accountable, and build something that actually works—for you and your people.

About the Author
Dr. Tara Vossenkemper is a gently-candid consultant who’s been in the trenches of group practice ownership since 2017. With a hearty blend of depth, irreverence, and a solid dash of humor (or so she hopes), Tara helps practice owners navigate the can-be-messy process of hiring, culture-building, vision generating, people-y issues, and all the other things that keep you up at night. When she’s not consulting, she’s probably wrangling her animals or homeschooling her kids—because why not add more chaos to the mix?
