Tara’s Top Picks for Practice Success
Running a group practice basically feels like juggling flaming swords while riding a unicycle (complete with clown nose). This can be done, but not without practice and not without the proper supports in place (like your training team or your cheering fans or your developed muscles or, crazy thought, the actual tools like the swords and unicycle [and clown nose]). It’s hard enough doing the damn thing, but would be next to impossible without the right tools in place.
With those right tools, you can make it look like you’re a seasoned pro (or at the very least like a novice who’s at least able to maintain all the things).
And here’s where I come in. I’m condensing and sharing with you my favorite tools for helping me juggle my flaming swor run my group practice.
These vary from EHRs (that won’t make you want to pull your hair out [on the vast majority of days] to practice metrics dashboards that actually make data fun (read: easily digestible and pretty to look at [hahahaha]). These are the real deal, the tools that keep things running smoothly and keep your sanity intact. So, grab a cup of coffee (or something stronger), and check out the stuff that could actually help you to level up your practice game.
I’m not one to blow smoke, but I’ve got to give PracticeVital a major shoutout for streamlining and enhancing our team metrics. I used to handle KPIs myself via building out google sheets, finding efficient ways to monitor and track, updating sheets yearly, fixing issues, and automating everything (and I did a damn good job!). All that is useless when I started with PracticeVital. They’ve made it so much easier to filter and understand metrics with built-in defaults from hundreds of practices. Best part? I’m relieved from all the sheet responsibilities, which I didn’t even realize were weighing on me the extent they were until we started with PracticeVital. Seriously incredible. Use them.
TherapyNotes
Say what you will about any EHR, but I’ve used four at this point and TherapyNotes is, hands down, the best I’ve worked with. From their customer service to their functionality, I have minimal issues. It wouldn’t be an EHR without a workaround or two, but we have been able to make this work for a multi-location practice, multiple provider types, and billing for close to 1000 clients at a time. TherapyNotes has much of my undying devotion.

*Yes, this is a (shameless) plug. I benefit from this group, also! And I know the importance of being surrounded by quality people.
