Heyo, I’m Dr. Tara Vossenkemper.
I’m a group therapy practice owner, practice consultant, and speaker (and a licensed therapist in the state of Missouri #CouplesCounselingAllDay).
I started my practice with little to no understanding of what it took to run a group therapy practice and, probably more importantly, what it took to ensure I was bringing on the right people when I hired.
I always had inklings for how I wanted people to engage with each other and be involved in the growth of the practice, but those didn’t really come to light until I was in the thick of people-related ‘issues.’
Not only the general woes and frustrations of hiring, but also the major issues, like when an employee leaves and breaches HIPAA, or when a person is paid a salary, but not working in their final weeks with the practice. Things I hope you don’t have to suffer through, really.
I knew that I didn’t want to deal with hose problems, and I figured the easiest way of doing this was to be super intentional with hiring. And so that’s where I focused. I knew that I needed to create a hiring process where we could easily:

ensure quality candidates (in regards to clinical and administrative work)
make sure our current team was on board and engaged with the new hires
